New Driver and Imminent Support for Macintosh OS

December 29, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Update (1/8/12): The (alpha) mac driver does not work -no one has reported it working. They are aiming at another release before they leave for New Year…

Update (1/4/12): There is a Macintosh driver in the beta folder. I attempted to install it on OSX-Lion but I got some error messages even though the files were copied into the proper directory. But I couldn’t see the device in the sound control panel or MIDI setup up panel. There hasn’t been an announcement or instructions yet…

Beta version of driver for Macintosh to be available in a week. According to Musiland,

MAC support for audio is more powerful than Windows. The WIN platform does not directly support 32bit and 384kHz. You need to write your own API. MAC has native 32bit and 384kHz support.

Latest version of the Musiland USB Series driver: MlCyMon_2.2.0.0_build20111228.exe

  • Mainly Minor bug fixes, support for 02US Dragon model
  • In the past 3 months, since the release of version 2.x, the driver has been updated several times in response to bugs reported by the users. The company is becoming more responsive in updating the software. Below is the latest UI (with the HDCD “light” enabled in the config file)

The installer adds the following kernel extensions -:
    MlCyMon.kext cn.musiland.driver.MlCyMon
    MlCyMonFW.kext cn.musiland.driver.MlCyMonFW

I tried the installer and I get errors towards the end of the installation process. Reinstalling with the Musiland plugged in results in no errors. However the Musiland device does not show up. Lets wait for an announcement and instructions…

On Snow Leopard it does work for me! Just open the package and it installs itself in no time, restart done.
But the volume is so low – apperantly the headphone amplifier circuit isn’t in proper working order yet … or i’m to dumb to find the preference section.

I tried it on Lion and it did not work.

I also tried installing it on snow leopard – as reported above it appears in the sound preferences as Monitor 02 US (USB), but volume from the 02’s headphone output is unacceptably low. Other than selecting the device for sound output no preferences seem to be available.

    BlogGeanDo :Tried it. “Invalid License”…

I used it for my new (bought 1 month ago) Monitor 03 US without problems …
I can’t hear any remarcable difference with my system (W7 64bit, foobar2000, WASAPI, SMSL SA-S3 amplifier, ProAc minitowers LS).
Maybe it could have “license” problems with older Musiland products.

I’ve read your posts on bbs.musiland.
I don’t know how Musiland CS works: I hope they solve your problem. There was a similar problem with another driver release, if I correctly remember.

12/23/2016 @ 18:39:50 In my view, https://hifiduino.wordpress.com does a great job of dealing with subject matter of this kind. Even if sometimes intentionally polemic, the posts are generally well researched and stimulating.
